Whirl-Pak B01324 Meat/Turkey Carcass Sampling Kit (box of 25)

This sampling kit is designed for microbiological testing of meat and poultry carcasses, particularly for detecting organisms such as E. coli. Food safety laboratories, meat processors, and regulatory inspectors commonly use it to collect samples from carcass surfaces for contamination analysis.

Each kit typically contains sterile polyethylene gloves, 25 mL buffered peptone water, a Whirl-Pak® Speci-Sponge® sampling bag, and two sterile templates for standardized swabbing of meat or turkey carcasses. These components provide everything needed for consistent and hygienic sample collection in the field or processing facility.

The disposable templates help define the exact surface area that should be swabbed, ensuring consistent sampling results between tests. Because they are single-use, they also eliminate the need to sanitize reusable templates between samples, reducing cross-contamination risk and saving time.

During sampling, the sponge is first moistened with buffered peptone water and then used to swab the carcass surface through the template area. After sampling, the sponge is returned to the sterile bag with the remaining solution and sent to a laboratory for microbiological analysis.
