The A&D AD-4212C-301 provides two weighing ranges through its Smart Range function: a 51 g precision range with 0.0001 g (0.1 mg) readability and a 320 g standard range with 0.001 g (1 mg) readability. This combination allows users to perform extremely precise measurements of small samples while retaining a higher overall weighing capacity when needed.

The Smart Range function automatically switches from the 51 g precision range to the 320 g standard range when the load exceeds the precision-range capacity. After performing RE-ZERO (tare), the system can recover the finer 0.0001 g readability within the precision range, making it useful for applications where a container or tare load is present.
