Advantec No. 5A is an ashless quantitative filter paper designed for gravimetric analysis and laboratory testing where accurate residue measurement is required. It is commonly used for environmental monitoring, metal analysis, and filtration of hydroxides and suspensions.

This grade is intended for coarse particle retention, typically capturing particles larger than about 7–10 microns, making it suitable for gelatinous precipitates and heavy particulate samples.

“Ashless” means the filter paper leaves minimal residue after combustion, which is critical for quantitative analysis and gravimetric testing. This ensures that measured results reflect only the sample, not contaminants from the paper.

This filter paper has a fast flow rate (around 60 seconds flow time), allowing efficient processing of larger volumes while still maintaining reliable particle retention.

The 12.5 cm (125 mm) diameter is a standard size for use with gravity filtration funnels and Büchner setups, making it ideal for routine lab filtration, environmental testing, and industrial sample preparation.
