The GF-324A uses external calibration, meaning users calibrate the balance with an appropriate external reference weight rather than a built-in calibration mass. A&D lists 50 g, 100 g, 200 g, and 300 g as applicable calibration weight values for the GF-324A. This configuration is useful for laboratories that already maintain certified or traceable calibration weights.

A&D's Electronically Controlled Load (ECL) technology allows the GF-324A to perform an internal repeatability test without using an external test weight. The GF-324A uses external calibration, while the GX-324A includes internal calibration for convenient one-touch calibration.
