Whatman Grade 3 filter paper is designed for qualitative laboratory filtration, precipitate collection, and routine analytical work. Its thicker structure allows it to handle larger sample loads, making it suitable for Büchner funnel filtration, environmental testing, and general sample preparation.

Grade 3 filter paper provides approximately 6 µm particle retention with medium flow rate. It is twice as thick as Grade 1, allowing it to retain finer particles while still maintaining good filtration speed and high loading capacity.

The increased thickness improves wet strength, absorbency, and loading capacity, allowing more precipitate to be collected without clogging. This makes Grade 3 especially useful for gravity filtration and vacuum filtration using Büchner funnels.

The 320 mm diameter is ideal for large-volume filtration and large funnels, reducing the need for multiple filters. This size is commonly used in industrial labs, environmental testing, and high-throughput filtration setups.

Choose Grade 3 when you need better particle retention than Grade 1 and higher loading capacity than thinner papers, while still maintaining moderate flow rate. It is a strong middle-ground option for general qualitative filtration with heavier precipitates.
