Whatman Grade GF/F glass microfiber filters are widely used for laboratory filtration of fine particulates in biochemical and environmental testing. Typical applications include DNA purification, protein precipitation, and analysis of environmental samples such as landfill leachate and water contaminants.

Grade GF/F filters provide a particle retention range of approximately 0.6–0.8 µm (nominal 0.7 µm). This level of retention allows them to capture very fine particles while maintaining fast filtration flow rates.

These filters are made from pure borosilicate glass microfiber without chemical binders. The binder-free design improves chemical purity and prevents contamination of sensitive samples during laboratory filtration.

The Whatman 1825-042 filters have a 42.5 mm diameter and are supplied in boxes of 100 filter circles. This size is commonly used with standard laboratory filtration holders and vacuum filtration systems.

GF/F glass microfiber filters can tolerate high temperatures up to approximately 500–550 °C, making them suitable for demanding laboratory procedures such as gravimetric analysis and environmental testing.
